COMPOSER+ SONGWRITER TOMMY WALTER
Tommy Walter is a Los Angeles–based songwriter and composer for film and television. Most recently, he completed work on the two-season reboot of Clone High — produced by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller (Spider-Man, Project Hail Mary) and Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Shrinking) — now streaming on Max. His scoring work spans films, television series, and high-profile campaigns and trailers for clients including Disney+, Sony, DreamWorks, and HBO.
Tommy’s music career began as a founding member of the critically acclaimed band Eels. The group’s debut album, Beautiful Freak, and its breakout single “Novocaine for the Soul” earned international acclaim, including a BRIT Award for Best International Breakthrough Act. Following his time with EELS, Tommy launched his solo project Abandoned Pools, releasing five albums to date and a sixth one in production. The single “The Remedy” reached No. 1 on the MTV2 Rock Countdown, and the band toured extensively across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, sharing stages with artists like Garbage, Lenny Kravitz, Pink, and A Perfect Circle.
A native of Los Angeles, Tommy spent his formative summers studying French horn and jazz bass at Idyllwild Arts Academy and Interlochen Center for the Arts. He continued his classical training at USC, performing with the university’s symphony before shifting his focus to composition. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Theory & Composition and completed USC’s renowned Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program.
